Congratulations to Georgia Coates, who has been selected to represent Team GB at this summer’s Olympic Games. Georgia is the youngest member of the 26-strong squad at just 17 years old.
A huge well done to Georgia, and everyone at the club who has made this dream possible. The hard work begins now!

Congratulations to Georgia Coates on breaking the British junior short course 200m individual medley record this morning. Georgia set a new mark of 2:10.31 to finish ninth at the European Short Course Championships in Israel. Great job Georgia! We are all very proud of you.

After a successful World Junior Championships in August, Georgia Coates will make her first senior international appearance when she represents GB at the European Short Course Championships this week.

Georgia Coates wins silver in the 200m individual medley to take our final medal tally in Dordrecht to four.
A lifetime best performance of 2:14.72 gave Georgia Coates a silver medal in the 200m individual medley. This concludes a superb week for the 15 year old who now has a silver and a bronze medal in her collection. As does Amelia Clynes, who was back in action tonight in the 50m butterfly. She swam yet another lifetime best to finish 10th in a time of 27.90.

Leeds Success at European Junior Championships (Leeds Sport and Active Lifestyles)

As the European Junior Championships draw to a close, our representatives show no signs of letting up.
Yesterday saw Amelia Clynes set a new British Age Group record in the 100m butterfly to qualify joint fastest for tonight’s final. In the final, Amelia dipped under the one minute barrier for the first time to touch home in 59.96. A performance that lowered her British mark once again and earnt her a silver medal in a close-fought race.
Having won a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley earlier in the week, Georgia Coates was back in action today, this time competing in the 200m event. She qualified second quickest for tomorrow’s final.

Last night on the first day of the European Junior Championships in Dordrecht, three City of Leeds swimmers were in action for Team GB.
Georgia Coates swam a five second life time best to win a bronze medal in the 400m individual medley. She also placed 6th in the 800m freestyle.
Magdalena Cygan narrowly missed out on a medal as she finished 4th in the 4 x 100m freestyle.
Amelia Clynes qualified in 2nd fastest for the final of the 200m butterfly.
Update, 11 July: In the final, Amelia won a bronze medal in a British Age Group record time of 2:11.46.
