Age Group Swimmers Dominate Regional Championships

The sec­ond week­end of the NER Age Groups saw many phe­nom­e­nal swims to top off some of the most spec­tac­u­lar rac­ing the club has seen at region­al level. 

The club occu­pied all three podi­um posi­tions on six occa­sions dur­ing their dom­i­na­tion of the week­end’s com­pe­ti­tion. The relay teams also per­formed well; medalling in every event. Over­all, we col­lect­ed almost six times more gold medals than the sec­ond placed team. 

Medal tal­ly (after two weekends)

In addi­tion to the 120 medal­lists there were 164 final­ists (plac­ing 4^th – 10^th). Our tal­ly of 60 gold medals meant that we won just under half of all of the gold medals (124) that were avail­able over the two weekends. 

Con­grat­u­la­tions to all the swim­mers who achieved per­son­al best times, medals and nation­al times. We hope that these results will help to fuel a pos­i­tive approach in the lead up to local and Nation­al Cham­pi­onship events. 

Thank you to the team man­agers who were an amaz­ing sup­port over both week­ends, their con­tri­bu­tion unques­tion­ably helped us achieve the heights we reached.

Another Dominant Performance From Our Age Groupers

City of Leeds swim­mers dom­i­nate the medal table and make 154 appear­ances in finals at the ASA North East Region­al Championships.

The com­pe­ti­tion which extends over a gru­elling two week­ends showed City of Leeds Swim­ming Club’s dom­i­nance of age group swim­ming in the north east.

As well as many swim­mers suc­ceed­ing in achiev­ing nation­al qual­i­fy­ing times, swim­mers made the podi­um on 85 occasions.

The team col­lec­tive­ly achieved 28 bronze medals. 22 sil­ver medals; and a whop­ping 35 gold medals (almost dou­ble the 2^nd place team’s gold medal tally).

Evi­dent­ly… ​“A team above all but above all a team.”

Leeds Finish Top of Medal Table at North East Regionals

Final week­end of the NER Bag­cat Cham­pi­onships sees our gold medal tal­ly double.

The sec­ond week­end of the ASA NER Bag­cat Cham­pi­onships took place at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on the 11^th and 12^th June 2011.

With the Cham­pi­onships being the last chance for most swim­mers to qual­i­fy for the ASA Nation­al Cham­pi­onships, the com­pe­ti­tion was fierce with many swim­mers try­ing to achieve their qual­i­fy­ing times.

The City of Leeds Swim­ming Club were rep­re­sent­ed by mem­bers of the Nation­al Youth and Age Group squads, Com­pe­ti­tion Cen­tral and the Region­al Youth Squad.

There were some great swims over the week­end with swim­mers from the City of Leeds achiev­ing more Nation­al Qual­i­fy­ing times and Chantel Mad­den achiev­ing her first in the Girls 200m breaststroke.

The City of Leeds Boys and Girls 4 x 100m med­ley relay Teams post­ed com­pet­i­tive times in a bid to gain qual­i­fi­ca­tion for the Nation­al relays. The teams now have to wait for the rest of the results around the coun­try to see if they have qualified.

The Cham­pi­onships fin­ished with the City of Leeds top­ping the medal table with 26 Gold, 31 Sil­ver, and 22 Bronze medals.

Great indi­vid­ual and relay per­for­mances see Leeds top medal table after first week­end of NER Bag­cat Championships.
