Swimmers Shine at Final Weekend of Yorkshire Championships

The York­shire Teams and Sprints week­end saw our swim­mers add a fur­ther 69 medals to this year’s haul to retain the Top Age Group Trophy.

The final week­end of the York­shire Cham­pi­onships saw City of Leeds rise to the Top once more, this time assert­ing their dom­i­nance at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

It was fan­tas­tic to have so many of our team there com­pet­ing. Even more excit­ing was the fact that between 102 ath­letes, we fin­ished with a Top 10 plac­ing 482 times over the 3 weekends.

Of 33 BAG­CAT podi­um places avail­able, City of Leeds placed in a stag­ger­ing 16, includ­ing a ​“1, 2, 3” in the Boys 12 years Age Group.

At the cul­mi­na­tion of the Cham­pi­onships the club retained its hold of the George Lester Tro­phy for Top Age Group Club.

More Success in Second Weekend of Yorkshire Championships

Some great swim­ming at the John Charles Cen­tre saw huge improve­ments on last year’s medal tally.

Week­end 2 in the John Charles proved to be as fruit­ful as the first. If that was­n’t impres­sive enough… com­pared to the 2012 York­shire Champs we won a mas­sive 60% more Bronze, 12% more Sil­ver and an impres­sive 28% more Gold Medals.

Leeds Swimmers Light Up Yorkshire Championships With Over 125 Medals

More out­stand­ing per­for­mances at the sec­ond week­end of the 2012 York­shire Coun­ty Cham­pi­onships at the John Charles Centre. 

Of 100 City of Leeds swim­mers who entered the Coun­ty Cham­pi­onships over the 2 week­ends, 76% were ranked in the top 10 in at least 1 event. We end­ed the week­end with a total of 309 Top 10 fin­ish­es and an out­stand­ing 125 Medals. Including: 

  • 53 Gold
  • 39 Sil­ver
  • 33 Bronze

After a bit of maths, this means we made the podi­um in just over 40% of all finals and heat declared win­ner events. 

Fur­ther­more, 40% of City of Leeds com­peti­tors made the podi­um. An out­stand­ing achieve­ment upon which we must now look to cement our dom­i­nance of York­shire at the 50m Cham­pi­onships and York­shire Teams.

Leeds Dominate Yorkshire Team Championships

A one-two in the Boys 9/10 yrs 200m med­ley team was the high­light of a tri­umphant day for City of Leeds SC 

On Sun­day 20th March 2011, the York­shire SA Team Cham­pi­onships were held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The com­pe­ti­tion involved 5 age groups, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15/16, and Open swim­ming 200m freestyle and med­ley relays for both boys and girls. 

The City of Leeds Swim­ming Club had an impres­sive 80 teams com­pet­ing dur­ing the day win­ning 11 out of the 20 events and plac­ing sec­ond in 7 of the 20 events includ­ing tak­ing the top 2 places in the Boys 9/10 yrs 200m med­ley team.

Yorkshire Sprints Meet Yields a Fine Medal Haul

22 Golds, 19 Sil­vers and 19 Bronzes con­cludes a suc­cess­ful 2011 York­shire Cham­pi­onships campaign.

The final day of the 2011 York­shire SA Age Group/​Open Cham­pi­onships was the 50m sprints held and Ponds Forge, Sheffield on Sat­ur­day 19th March 2011.

City of Leeds Swim­ming Club were rep­re­sent­ed by swim­mers from the Nation­al Senior, Youth and Age Group Squads, the Region­al Senior and Youth Squads and the Com­pe­ti­tion and Devel­op­ment Squads.

There were many best times over the two ses­sions and City of Leeds Swim­mers returned with 22 Gold, 19 Sil­ver and 19 Bronze Medals with a fur­ther 56 finalists.

Two Fantastic Weekends For Leeds at Yorkshires

Leeds swim­mers excel over both week­ends as Com­mon­wealth Games final­ist Anne Bochmann and vol­un­teer Jack Fer­ri­day receive awards.

First Week­end – 19/20 February

The first week­end of the 2011 York­shire ASA Age Group/​Open Cham­pi­onships was held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The City of Leeds Swim­ming Club were rep­re­sent­ed by mem­bers of the Nation­al, Region­al, Com­pe­ti­tion and Devel­op­ment Squads.

Over the 2 days of com­pe­ti­tion City of Leeds had 155 final­ists win­ning 64 medals, a fan­tas­tic achievement.

Jack Fer­ri­day was pre­sent­ed with the Vin­cent and Mar­garet Horner Tro­phy for Out­stand­ing Vol­un­teer­ing Ser­vices to swimming.

Over the 2 days of com­pe­ti­tion City of Leeds had 181 final­ists win­ning 71 medals, anoth­er fan­tas­tic achievement.

Success for Youngsters at Winter County Competition

Liam Bir­rell and Kiani Camp­bell-Grady come away with five and four golds respec­tive­ly as Leeds enjoy suc­cess in first cham­pi­onship event of the season.

Ponds Forge, Sheffield was the venue for the first cham­pi­onship event of the sea­son. With some of the best swim­mers in the coun­ty try­ing to post some fast ear­ly sea­son times, the com­pe­ti­tion at the York­shire Swim­ming Asso­ci­a­tion Win­ter Cham­pi­onships was tough.

The City of Leeds were rep­re­sent­ed by swim­mers from the Devel­op­ment, Com­pe­ti­tion, Region­al Youth and Senior and Nation­al Age and Youth squads. There were some great per­for­mances over the week­end with many best times espe­cial­ly form the clubs younger swimmers.
